Dung, Go Towards the Light!
I made these dung beetles just using dollar store bug toys, ping-pong balls, some used tea leaves (pu'er, my favorite) and spackle. I used these to make a silly little skill game I call "Dung, Go Towards the Light!" GO CHECK IT OUT!
Two cuties and their booty booty!
Brother One! (I like to think of them as brothers)
He's a big reader!
Brother Two! (Also a reader.)
The brothers STAY reading!
Sometimes they disagree!
Step 1: glue some cheap bug toys to some ping pong balls. Mine came as eyeballs, but it's ok if yours aren't. Believe it or not, some people prefer it.
Step 2: Glue some crap to the ball to break up the texture. I used loose pu'er tea (my favorite) that I had already poured three pots through. You don't need to drink your crafts to use them though. Believe it or not, some people prefer it.
Step 3: cover the ball in a good amount of spackle. When it's done, then you can prime and paint. I use spray paint to prime my guys, but cheap dollar store toys have a tendency to stay tacky after you put a coat on. To prevent this, I usually coat them in mod podge first, though if you're fancy, of course you can just use a air brush. Believe it or not, some people prefer it.
